1. Data Collection
Croachtalks collects account, profile, activity, location-consent, safety, report, chat, notification, and device-token information strictly needed to run the service securely. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
2. Location Privacy
Approximate locations (city, neighborhood) may be shown publicly. Exact coordinates and full street addresses are protected and should only be revealed to approved participants, depending on the host's settings. We fuzz coordinates in public queries to prevent stalking.
3. Contacts
Syncing contacts is optional and only happens when you choose it. Phone numbers are turned into one-way hashes on your device before anything is uploaded; we store only those hashes, and use them only to show you which of your contacts already use Croachtalks. Your contacts' names and raw numbers never leave your phone. If you don't want people who have your number to find you this way, turn off “Find me by phone number” in the app under Privacy & Visibility.
4. Data Retention & Deletion
You can request account deletion in the mobile app. Your account is hidden straight away and the profile and sign-in identity are erased 30 days after the request; see the Data Deletion page for the details. Some moderation flags, safety records, and audit logs may be kept after that where the law requires it or to prevent platform abuse. We are finalising fixed retention periods for these records and will state them here once they are set.
5. Compliance & Security
Access to data is limited by database-level access rules (Row-Level Security), so signed-in users can only read what the rules allow them to. For GDPR and CCPA requests, use the in-app deletion request or write to [email protected].
